I wouldn't guarantee that...I have seen 78 production with tangerines followed by 79 with metal...I think it depends sometimes on which parts box was opened that day.

There is a lot of overlap with the use of phase plugs...

Granted but for the most part my statement says that the very late production had some tangerines were the H models were supposed to be all tangerines.Altec clearly stated that new for the H model they will get the new phase plugs.

What your talking about is quality control issues maybe. My statement is for general terms could you find metal phase plugs in one sure could you find tangerines in one sure. But for that model they were supposed to have tangerines(H) model.I think at the very end of the G model they started with the conversion to tangerines so at that point anything is possible no. Late in the G production when they started conversion to tangerines I'm sure on the assembly line that they were metal & tangerines, but when they got the call to start using the tangerines it was late in the G production model. Soon after Altec came out with the 604-8H. Did I make a mistake.Or are we splitting hairs.

Yes your statement is by and large accurate.

I have seen E2 models, at least 2 independent sets, with tangerines...I remember the tangerines actually being used in the 800 series drivers before the duplex G model.... am just saying over a couple years you might get either. Just like frames on 15's. Can be early or late, the transition overlapped.

Speaker used in cabinets are where I see most oddities. I really don't consider it a QC issue at all.

I agree, because it's where they feel that they can save some money.Where nobody is going to see them. That is until they open them up.
